UniquelyUncut encourages and supports you in making a plan to ensure 2014 is the best year yet
This time of year everyone is so eager to set New Years Resolutions as they look forward to a better year than last year. They swear up and down to themselves that they are going to change in this or that particular area, start exercises and being healthy, change bad habits and on and on. They start the year off strong and hard but then shortly after they go right back to their normal routines. All of the promises they made to themselves and others have now been broken. Why set yourself up for failure? Why beat yourself up for what you did not accomplish, when you could have and should have? Does this sound like you? If so that is ok because I will be sharing some tips with you on various ways to not only prepare for a great year but how to plan for one.
Instead of setting resolutions and hoping they pan out, why not implement and execute a plan?! Creating a plan for your year gives you a big picture on the purpose and outcome. A plan will have long term growth as opposed to a resolution dealing you nothing but procrastination and an inconsistent ride. Tye Tribbett came to visit my church and made a good point that will forever stick with me. He talked about how people are so ready for the new year because they are running from the disappointments of the old year. Wow! That is so true. For many, people look at the new year as a way out and to a fresh new start. They leave the hurts, disappointments and failures behind and look to a year of new possibilities and opportunities. He went on to say that they look for God to do something in the new year. He said that as he was praying he too was looking for God to move in the new year, God said He is not doing anything. Whoa! Instead God asked what will he do this year? Ok God! God’s timing is perfect and he already knows the plan, process and the outcome. He is going to do his part. Maybe God is looking to see what you will be doing this year?
Lets us not follow what seems like tradition and so deeply engrained in our society. Let us do a new thing. I won't be partaking in setting any New Years Resolutions and I encourage and challenge you not to as well. Instead let us write the vision and make it plain. A vision that is not vague but with a WHY and an Action Plan. Let us implement a plan to get beyond where we were with action steps to not only where we want to be but accomplish just that.
You may have already declared your New Years resolution or maybe not. I urge you to take some time to plan for 2014. Not only did I plan but I set aside a lot of time to prepare. "Only 45% of Americans usually make New Year’s resolutions, and only 8% of those achieve success, according to statistics on brain.com", as sourced by the University of Scranton’s Journal of Psychology. With that in mind it is not too late. Yes we are already into the first week of the new year but remember how quickly you fell off and back into routine? You still have time to prepare and plan for this to be great year! I am extremely optimistic that it will be. Lets commit to preparing, planing and executing. You are not alone and I will give you so many ideas and so much motivation you can't help but succeed.
