There is nothing worst than having a longgggg list of things to do and not accomplishing anything! Alleviate some of the stress and pressure off yourself by releasing unrealistic expectations. That concept should be a blog post within itself. 🙂 There is only 24 hours in the day. There is no need to play mind games with yourself. I know that you can trick your mind into believing almost anything, but when its all said and done who ends up suffering? Exactly. So lets not even go there.
Be honest about what you can and can not accomplish. Do what you can do with today and whatever is not done, deal with it another day. I can not even believe that I am giving you this advice as I am the queen of making to do list with the intention of crossing everything off! Rarely does that ever happen. When I don't get it all done I get frustrated with myself and feel a sense of unproductiveness. Then I am mad. As a result of being made I become counterproductive. You see where this is going? Good. I realize now that I would be far more productive if I accomplished at least one thing compared to nothing. So why not just make a smaller more realistic list for yourself to archive. Don't overload yourself. You would feel much better and accomplished when you see that things are actually getting done. No it may not all be happening in your "unrealistic" time frame but at least you are making some progress.
You know what makes you feel accomplished and satisfied, which will give you a direction to start. Some people say start with the simpler task first others say go for the greater task that you have been putting off. I say do what is best for you as long as you do something. Prioritization is key. Consider what is the most important thing that needs to get done. Here is the thing, trust and know that your list will eventually begin to grow. That is something that you will also need to maintain and be mindful of. It seems like as you mark one thing off you have to add another task on. I am not saying to only limit yourself to accomplishing one task a day, but to do do more if you can. The more progress the better.
***Lets take it one step further with applying this to our Vision for our life. What would it look like for feel like to make extreme process towards your Vision? Each and every day of our lives will be filled with "things to do." So we should gradually become masters at getting done what needs to be done. Lets take this approach and use it towards achieving one goal towards the bigger dream you have for your life. For many this has been a area that is most desired but less productive (This was me). As much as we all would love for our goals, dreams and vision to be manifested overnight, it doesn't work that way. We all must start somewhere an work towards where we desire to be and go. Setting goals we know is a must but taking action towards these goals is mandatory in order to see results. I.E. One of my greater goals and vision I have for my life is to become a motivational speaker. This has been a desire of mine since 2007. I have already identified a resource that will help improve my speaking and leadership skills, Toastmasters. Today I plan to connect with the president of the group so that my membership fee can be paid. As a result I will be prepared and ready to start for my very first meeting next week. Yeaaaa! Not only am I being productive but I am working towards my accomplishing the larger vision of my life. I am excited and feel great! 🙂
What is one thing you can to today to help you reach your Dreams?
