As I scrolled through my notifications on my Iphone I was hit with this breaking news from NBC.
The Unemployment rate has fallen to seven percent, a five year low.
All I could say was, "Thank you Lord! Thank you that this is not me." If you have a job you are blessed. You may not feel too blessed but the simple fact that you have is better than not having. It may not be the job you want or love, but you have one. Everyone can not say the same thing and someone else would love to be in your shoes. Gods word says in Colossians 3:23-24, "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward." It is the Lord Christ you are serving. This is the holiday season and there are so many people who are lacking and going without. Be grateful that you have employment and that you are not apart of this horrible static.
I would like challenge you to do a new thing to get different results.
If you have a job
1. Think back to the very beginning, before you landed the job you had. Why did you want this job? How happy were you to have gotten the job? What did you love about the job when your first started. How has this opportunity increased you and in what areas of your life? If you ask and believed God for the job, what has changed now?
2. As you prepare for work on Monday morning, what is one thing that you can do differently to change your attitude to a one of gratitude? What will it take for you to get your fire back? How will you work for God at your place of employment and not for man?
Assist someone who needs a job with their search. Refer them and send them job leads. Spread the word if you no someone is hiring. Offer your time and talents with resume building, applying for jobs and interview tips. God has blessed you with a job so be a blessing to someone else without one.
If you do not have a job
1. Know, trust and believe that God is your source. If God has still been able to provide for you desire having consistent employment you owe Him praise and thanks. Continue to trust that this too shall pass and be diligent in your asking.
2. While you have faith for God to provide, continue to do your part. Keeping applying, networking and interviewing. What is one thing you could do differently that you haven't done before to make progress towards your job hunt? What ways can you use your talents to serve others in this season? What great ideas, business plans and dreams have you disregarded that you could be working on?
Don't be afraid to ask for help. Be open minded. Network and inquire about potential opportunities though friends and family. Put yourself out there. Use what is currently in your hand to get to what you need and where you need to be. Don't be discouraged or limit yourself. Take risk in your job search.
